Earning Trust in a Climate of Distrust | 20 May 2025 workshop

Trust is at an all-time low. The story we are hearing around the world is of progress stalling, or going into reverse. Despite everyone's best efforts, climate messages aren’t always landing as we want. And we know that not everyone is trusted to talk about climate change and sustainability.

To transition to a low-carbon society, we need to be able to trust the wide range of people and organisations that can help get us there.

Let us help you inspire hope, credibility, and connection through powerful communication.

Climate Outreach and The Connectives are excited to bring you: ‘Earning Trust in a Climate of Distrust’.

This interactive virtual workshop is packed with evidence-based, practical tools to foster genuine connections and communicate with urgency and empathy on climate change and sustainability.

"Even in this context where it is not so much about a need to communicate a message, some of the lessons from the trust & influence workshop are really helpful in having these conversations with people in a respectful and valuable/constructive way." - Pilot workshop participant

We will take you through:

  • - The science of trust. Understanding why trust is essential in climate communication and how it influences public engagement.
  • - Who are trusted messengers? Identifying the characteristics of trusted messengers and how different audiences perceive credibility.
  • - Tailoring your message for different audiences. Exploring how values, identities, and worldviews shape people's responses to climate messaging.
  • - Speaking with empathy and authenticity. Techniques for connecting with audiences on an emotional level while maintaining credibility.
  • - Storytelling and narrative framing: Using relatable stories to make climate issues personal, relevant, and actionable.
  • - Practical application and peer feedback.

We look forward to seeing you!
